"ooohhhh...that's fun audrey!"

so i got this video the other night when i was trying to get audrey to "crawl" for me. sometimes hadley is all about her sister and other times she is all about hadley! this was one of those "all about audrey times". she is so much more verbal these days, that i have a hard time not laughing all day long. the other day she took a drink of water, put her hand on her chest and announced to shashe she was "so much better"...really, something was wrong; we didn't know. just cracks me up most of the day and of course audrey laughs at 99% of what she does...it is that 1% of the time when she is doing something ugly like taking a golf ball out of her hand because the other 2 she has apparently aren't enough...times like those are what seem to make audrey wish she wasn't the youngest.

a round of applause please...

because audrey can finally clap!  oh yippee!!!  last weekend (sunday, august 15th to be exact) audrey started clapping! i forgot how absolutely stinking adorable it is to see those chubby little hands meet in excitement for the first time!

a few other "new things"...she also started mimicking a "smacking sound".  she says mama and dada all the time (dada she has said all the time for a while now but mama is gaining in frequency; it was much more random). however, i am not totally convinced she knows what either really means quite yet.

without further adieu...here is the latest video of her "mobility". she was all over the place just like the one little "step" you see her take in the video but of course this was the only one really caught on camera...i still had to post it though!  i mean how do you move without your hands or anything?!?

she is fearless!

or is she?!?

please take note of the difference in demeanor in these pics.

notice how relaxed she looks riding in the boat at probably 40+mph and then the pure fear while riding in the safety of the car at a snails pace.  now her eyes are closed in the boat pic but who could keep them open going that fast?!?  i tell you she had a great time riding the boat and never seemed scared; so relaxed, her ankles are crossed.  well that was last saturday...then on wednesday or so the girls and i took the car to the car wash.  (we had quite a family adventure on the dirt "roads" on the way home from the lake last weekend and my car was past filthy.  the less than lovely water here in "the country" leaves horrible water spots on the car and we have gone lazy with drive thru car washes!  i'd never have imagined but i digress.)  the car wash before this one is the first time i remember her crying; it was so out of left field!  this time she actually started fussing as we pulled in the parking lot!  such a funny little girl...she cried throughout the car wash, even after i tried to explain it by putting it in terms of her bubble bath, but yet in a boat racing down the river she feels right at home!

capturing pictures like this are why i like to have a camera at my disposal at all times!  then having these cameras at the ready i am taking LOTS of pictures.  recently, i asked jay if he thought the girls would think it odd that we have so many pictures of hadley eating (given the absence of the milk allergy it seems i am photographing her eating something at least every few days) but he thought they would wonder why i have so many stinking pictures regardless of my point. surely not is all i have to say; they are my girls after all!

oh how i LOVE the lake!

and i think my girls do too!  jay and i both grew up spending a great deal of time in/on the lake.  i have simply THE BEST memories from going as a kid...

well this year we decided to take two "long weekend" type vacations so we could hit the lake and the beach!  we had a perfectly lovely weekend with great weather and some good family time; i only wish the entire family could have joined us!  i took a ton of pictures but here are just a few.

audrey enjoying her first dip in the water.  she pretty much kept the toy in her mouth the entire weekend.

hadley getting ready for her first boat ride in pop's boat!  or hadee's boat as she sometimes called it; wanda said she was the only person who could get away with trying to take ownership of the boat.  i think there are two others but i consulted campbell and audrey and they would actually like a lake house...
i couldn't resist this little retro number when i found it at target; they both had to have one!  hadley has also taken to wearing audrey's sunglasses sometimes and who knows why she wanted them upside down.

swimmies were not this comfy when i was her age...they were all vinyl and hard to get on!  i saw some cute ones at the beach last fall that i found online but these were about 1/3 the price at good ol wally world!

getting ready to "jump like tigger" to daddy!  jay suggested she jump like tigger because she wasn't really getting the jump off the side part and thought the visual would help her.  well, she had the best time doing this and after she got in the water she wanted to go right back on the pier and do it again.  she had to jump like each of pooh's friends; including eeyore and owl and i doubt very much that they are big jumpers!

these are the moments on camera that i wouldn't trade for all the tea in china!  sweet girl was exhausted and wanted to crawl up with pop's (jay's dad).

audrey getting ready for her first ride in pop/hadee's boat

and away they go!

the house we rented had a paddle boat and hadley was telling jay how she was going to drive it!

i hope this was just the beginning of an annual trip...my memories are just too much for words...makes me miss my mama sue and papa something awful.  oh to be a kid again but then again i get to watch these two enjoy their time as children and i think it will be far more rewarding with many more memories!

i scream,

you scream...we all scream for ice cream! well i don't exactly scream for ice cream but i hear most people do. anyway, we had dinner at the sylacauga dairy queen last friday and hadley got her first ice cream cone! jay was so excited for her and she seemed to enjoy every last taste. jay did spend a significant amount of time trying to teach our 2 year old the correct way to eat this delicacy and to her credit she caught on but i think she really just wanted to put her whole face in it! i mean look at her eyes in that second picture...pure joy!
